I love Finance Fridays because it really gives me some time to reflect on how to budget better and save money—with Wave! Today, were moving onto Part Two of Wave Accounting! Last week we explored a little bit of how we use Wave Accounting to run our business. We love it because it is so versatile. We can manage our business and personal life all in the same place but completely separate at the same time.
We have all of our income and expenses right on there. With all sorts of tools to help budget, invest, and even support, what is not to love and need from Wave? It’s FREE, also. That might as well be our favorite part. We can manage our money the way we like, when we like, wherever we’d like and not pay a dime for it. They use ads to make their money but I promise they do not interfere with your work. Want to know how to use it? Keep reading…
Thank God it’s Finance Friday!
Last week, my wife and I drove to Sarasota to see our adorable niece, Lulu. We spent all day over there at the pool with the baby and her mom, Morgan. We had such a good time! Our niece is getting so big and time is flying by. I completely had forgotten to set up this post to go out for last week’s finance Friday. If you were looking out for that post, I’m sorry for the delay. But it’s here today, soak in and let us know what you think if you give it a shot.
Today we are talking Wave Accounting! We are going to focus on our biggest business and how we do everything accounting related in order to run a smooth business with a great system. For the longest time, we did manual invoicing for our interpreter referral agency, Sunrise Interpreting Services. Blegh. It was the biggest hassle to create invoice on Excel and keep tabs on each and every single invoice that remains unpaid. Do not even get me started on how we used to mark invoices as paid once payment was received. Makes me nauseous thinking about those old days but that’s how we got to where we are today. Read More
Have you ever woken up and had one of those mornings where you just don’t even want to look into your bank account on your mobile banking app? I’ve had one of those days and I’m sure you have too, heck, we all have. Sometimes we let money get a little bit out of control. Careless spending is fun and, I mean, who doesn’t like to buy a thing or two for themselves without checking your bank account first? And, let’s just be real… Sometimes our bills are piling up to our knees! Do you have bills up to your eyeballs? Everyone does, even if there’s money in the bank to pay them. You pay one bill and, then, another one comes, it’s the never ending cycle of money. You shouldn’t wake up every day scared to look at your bank account and neither should I! Do you use mobile banking? Anything particular you like about your bank that makes you stay with them? We’ve got to start somewhere and we’ve got to start now. My family and I have personally had, thanks be to God, financial blessing upon our lives. Read More
Welcome to the first post of a new series called Finance Fridays! In this series, I will be posting tips + tricks for your Money & Finances in a variety of categories: Budget, Deals, Coupons, etc. I am not in any way a professional in finance or accounting. I just want to share what I have learned in the last few years as an entrepreneur and what I continue to learn on a daily basis as a business owner, housewife and homeowner. I have linked each category with the archive feed that is to come as we steadily watch Finance Fridays grow; in the meantime, the links will work but probably say there are no posts under that topic yet. Hold tight because this series is just beginning! Before you know it, you’ll be able to check back and see all the progress made in each individual category. Consider them lessons of life, if you will. During this post series, I want to discover better ways to manage our money and show you guys our findings. As I have been discussing on the blog lately, finances don’t have to be scary and I am going to learn through this to be transparent about our family money. Read More
Want to talk money? This year, I have come up with a budgeting spreadsheet that I will be sharing with you in the days to come as I perfect it and make sure all of the formulas work correctly. I, also, need to make sure that the downloadable Excel spreadsheet works for all of you, beautiful people, and that you may download it safely to your computers or smart phones or even your tablets! This is a fantastic way to budget out monthly bills, the income you and/or your spouse are bringing to the table and all other expenditures you may be spending on either on a monthly basis or as a one-time deal. I’m doing this for our family because we so desperately need to have a better organization system as it relates to the money. More money, more problems—just like the Notorious B.I.G. used to say. Although I agree with him on that, less money does not equal less problems—at least I don’t really think so. I guess being tight on money is humbling, when you think about it. I have nothing really to complain about because God has given me absolutely everything that I could possibly need: I have a beautiful wife, an incredible son/dog, I got my dream house (!!!) and I get to travel the world while I run my businesses. Money is not everything!! Don’t get me wrong though, having money is a great thing and being financially stable is a definite go for many of you in life, including our family. Read More
I’m headed back home from a weekend trip in Miami. It was my cousin’s birthday, Lala, whom I talk about often on the blog. I always say she’s my sister-mother-cousin. It’s an all-encompassing way that I can describe who she is to me as the influence she’s had in my life. She’s about seven years older than me but the age difference never interfered with our relationship. Through all the ups and downs, the least that I could do was drive down to Miami to spend her birthday with her, whether that included seeing other family members or not. It was an overall great time. I left on Sunday and they all planned to have a family gathering/get together at her parents’ house at 3 PM. I didn’t race or try to beat the clock, just wanted to make it safely and on time. It was a wonderful time alone and allowed me to reflect on my life. Something about driving on the road alone on an early-morning gets my mind rolling and thinking about the future, Jesus, nature, and anything under the sun, including ideas to be even more successful all the way around in life.
