You know I love all things festive and this week is St. Patrick’s Day. We hung up some lucky four leaf clover garland, bought the cutest floral arrangement made of eucalyptus and other gorgeous greens, made the most adorable wreath for the front door and we basically have the house all covered in everything green. I made these cute Rainbow Fruit Skewers to get a little taste of the rainbow on a search for my own pot of gold this year. A lot of the St. Patrick’s Day food ideas on Pinterest include Skittles or M&M’s. Ehhh, since we don’t need that kind of stuff, we thought we would come up with a fun and sweet treat. Rainbow Fruit Skewers were sure to not be beat. Read More
I sure do love my cup of coffee bright and early in the morning, but; there’s nothing quite like a cup of tea in the late afternoon as the sun goes down. The sunsets here in city beautiful are just that, beautiful. When I have a cup of tea, almost always earl grey, I often crave a little something sweet. Preferably accompanied by a sweet little French macaron. When that is not possible, Lavender Honey Bites will suffice.
I am sure that not everyone is a fan of flowery desserts or treats, like I am. Just trust me on this one, though. There is nothing like the combination of fresh lavender, raw honey and natural lemon zest. These three flavors come together so nicely in this protein packed afternoon tea cookie. More like cookie dough bite or half-baked cookie. Whatevs! It’s almost too good to be true. Don’t get me wrong, you can eat them at any time of the day. My sweet Lavender Honey Bites are best eaten one at a time. They are rich and decadent so one is more than enough. Unless you’re really into flowery goodies then, by all means, help yourself. Just in case you thought you read wrong, no you didn’t. I really did just decide to share this incredible recipe of sweet, yummy Red, White & Blue Popsicles. For all of you who didn’t notice my huge error last Monday… It was not George Washington’s birthday! Can you even believe that? I seriously thought it was his birthday because my phone told me on my calendar that it was Presidents’ Day because it was George Washington’s birthday. I didn’t really look into it much because I trusted my phone and the information you provided me. I’m so annoyed that my Apple iPhone 6 gave me inaccurate information on the calendar that reflects the United States of America national holidays. As an avid reader of American history, I should have noticed such information from my research that I conducted prior to making the post about Patriotic Confetti Poppers, last Monday, or even before then from previous studies and readings. Don’t forget to make those, too. They are super fun to make. I love my country and I appreciate any specific day designated to celebrate America so I am annoyed that I made a fool of myself. Obviously, by the looks of my post last week, I had no idea! I absolutely love Apple and I wouldn’t trade my iPhone for the world but I am genuinely annoyed that there is such a mistake out there on a national holiday calendar that is shared with millions of Apple iPhone users throughout America. I love them enough to email them and let them know, in order to correct the error…Yes, I did that, I had to. It was my duty to society for all other American Apple iPhone users who have only rely on the calendar to accurately inform them of national holidays. Like me, lol! Read More
Well, if it isn’t the luck of the Irish! With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, I had to start celebrating everything mint and green with a touch of rainbow and a hidden pot of gold—pun totally intended.
I haven’t made any cookie dough bites in quite a while but I have a recipe that I’ve been following for years with interchangeable ingredients, such as here and also here. These new Shamrock Mint Bites are an absolute minty perfection! Growing up, mint chocolate chip was my favorite ice cream flavor, period. Anything with the flavor of mint had an A+ in my book. Plus, I wanted green peppermint syrup on everything! Super unhealthy, I know. The chocolate chips were not the main attraction to me though, as they are for most people, everything was about the mint, to me. Minty green this and minty green that. I even had a time I blogged under the name Minty Star on LiveJournal while I was in high school. Seriously did I just see that announce it to the whole world that I once was a childish idiot teenager? Oh, whatever… All of us were once. Read More
Ever since we bought our house and moved in, we have gone to IKEA a few times to get ideas and inspiration as well as buy some good pieces of furniture that have been on our IKEA Family shopping wish list for quite a while. From the moment you walk into any IKEA store worldwide, the smell of fresh Swedish inspired cinnamon roll sticky buns hits you smack in the face. With all the times I’ve been there and gotten weak in the knees at the entrance as the sliding glass doors open from the toxic sugary scent in the air, I have never given into the addictive temptation of shoving one in my face and scarfing it down in less than 60 seconds. Trust me, as girl with recovery from eating disorders and food addiction, I certainly do think about what it would taste like and what it would feel like to eat one of these. The thought of sweet cream cheese icing dripping off of the sides of a steamy hot cinnamon roll with sticky cinnamon sugar paste melting all over my fingers as I take a bite of heavenly gluten death. One bite might just be enough to kill me and send me into a full blown relapse. Read More
Happy Valentine’s Day!
A day for the lovers and a time to show love. This is one of my favorite little holidays because it’s so easy to just show your love to someone through actions, words and heartfelt gifts. I know it will be very hard to find time to go to the store and buy a gift or sit for a few hours and make a DIY project or craft as a present. Good and healthy food is the way to someone’s heart and, moreover, so is chocolate! Here are just a few of my favorite 5 Sweet Last Minute Valentines from Pinterest and beyond. Read More
It was about time this Magical Strawberry Butter reinvented itself. The recipe is basically the same so nothing has really changed except picture and the content of my post. Back when I started my blog a few years ago, I dreamt that my Magical Strawberry Butter would take off and go viral through Pinterest. Even with all the photographic experience I’ve had throughout my lifetime, I learned a thing or two from then till now when it comes to food photography, or lifestyle photography in general. The original picture of my Magical Strawberry Butter makes me cringe. I took it with an Android phone way back before I knew what was good for me, an iPhone, obviously. I put so much heart into it though, which makes it easier on the eyes to look at. I styled the photo, as I knew how to. I even tried a ribbon around the mason jar to add some style, which it didn’t really need it because hello its Magical Strawberry Butter!! This stuff is straight from the heavenly goddesses and fairies of the strawberries. Read More
Nothing says November like pumpkin spice does! This is my absolute favorite time of the year. Halloween gets me all pumped because it begins to transition us into fall, which is secretly my favorite season. I will admit later this year how much I love winter but as fall approaches, the butterflies just grow in my stomach with eager excitement of anticipation. I just love the fall! I love the falling leaves, the changing of colors, the breeze in the air, and the acorns on my feet. Read More
There are days that the thought of not having something sweet and delicious to munch on in the kitchen are just treacherous. Days like those are hard to get through. Many times though, I have forgotten that I made something for a holiday or some other event of sorts, maybe even some random idea to curate something sweet for the blog. These itty-bitty Chocolate Coconut Bounty Bites I once longed for are most certainly lingering around in places I don’t know because it is quite possible my wife moved them and hid them from me. Like these little puppies I’m posting about today. Read More
I’ll start this post by just saying: WE HATE TEXAS! A very long time ago, my honey lived in San Antonio, where The Alamo is located, for a short period of time. She has always told me there is nothing to miss about living in Texas, except for the Mexican food, to which I will attest. I guess when you drive more than 24 hours through a state, you are just about bound to hate it. I would kill for some Cinnamon Toast Crunch Popcorn right about now because my tongue is still burning from the delicious spices in the enchiladas I ate for breakfast. Read More
