Spring Lemon Place Cards

Spring Lemon Place Cards

I love to throw festive parties and events, as you can tell by the many posts on my blog about having the perfect gathering. This season calls for fresh, lively colors! With that being said, a few weeks ago for my brother and sister-in-law’s birthday at our house, I set the table with a colorful Spring Floral Arrangement and made individual Spring Lemon Place Cards with everyone’s name. I wanted to use the bag of lemons we bought for lemon water that week but without puncturing or ruining them. I wondered if to scatter them around the table or to fill a vase with them. And so I searched…

As I scoured the Internet, I found the cutest idea on Pinterest! Each place mat had half a lemon with a toothpick in it and a flag pasted to it with each invitee’s name. Horrible description, beautiful DIY. Just Google it. It was adorable; yet, I would have had to ruin the lemons to make this craft. Since it was basically a surprise party, it would’ve been pretty gross to have slices of lemon sitting there all afternoon waiting for the big surprise moment.

I figured I would go ahead and use the full-sized lemons on each plate and create my own place card to go in front of. It cost me absolutely nothing. The bag of lemons itself was two dollars {or less?} and it came with about 11 lemons, of which I only needed to use 8. You can use whatever kind of construction paper you have on hand in any color you choose. I chose hot pink to go with the bright colored theme of the surprise party.

The Spring Floral Arrangement was an assortment of red, orange, yellow, green, and purple. The pink construction paper really made those other colors pop. I love everything yellow so you better believe that I pulled out some of my pastel yellow brads for my Spring Lemon Place Cards. I have different shaped brads in every color. I like to conserve them because once you use them chances are you’re never getting them back or you can never reuse them. That’s okay with me as long as it is on occasion and as long as it’s for the cutest place cards on the planet!

Full-sized lemons, hot pink construction paper & pastel yellow brads. These are the perfect supplies and pop of color for our Spring Lemon Place Cards!
Ingredients
Materials
  • Lemons
  • 1 sheet hot pink construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Hole puncher
  • Brads
  • Pen
Instructions
  1. Set the table. Place a lemon on each plate.
  2. Cut your construction paper into several 5 x 2 rectangles. Fold about an inch on the left side, in order for the place card to stand up. Punch a hole in each card. Insert brad. Repeat until all are complete.

Notes
I chose to write the names in blue ink using all lowercase letters.
